jPDF VIEWER

There’s no reason to wait. jPDF Viewer is available now. Two years in the making - involving deep understanding of your needs and the complex demands of the technology - it arrives as a pioneer in the market. What does it offer?

jPDF Viewer is a Java component that allows users to securely view, print and modify any PDF document. It offers a comprehensive set of viewing options (zooming, scrolling, continuous mode, 4x4, etc.) along with an easy-to-use API.

It is the perfect solution for corporations wishing to seamlessly integrate PDF rendering technologies with enterprise content management, multimedia creations, project collaboration solutions and intranet/extranet portals.

FEATURES

PDF RENDERING

jPDF Viewer is a pure Java PDF Viewer that can be integrated with a wide range of applications, including Applets, Webstart, JavaBeans, SWT and SWING.
Our PDF renderer will display the most complex documents, including the ones containing Asian fonts, internationalizations, layers and much, much more.
But that's not all, you can now open TIFF, JPEG, PNG and GIF by dragging them onto the main panel.

FORM FIELDS

Form fields are dynamic elements that can be easily updated without rewriting the complete document structure. They are widely used to create dynamic online reports. Our viewer provides widgets and controls to change form field properties visually.

SIGNATURES

Unlike many competitor products, our viewer provides all the visual tools needed to manage digital PDF signatures. Signatures are part of the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); they provide ways to verify the identity of the author along with the contents of the file.

WIZARDS

Merge, split or protect documents using simple-to-use graphical wizards.
Crionics offers consulting services to develop new wizards specific to your business.

EDITOR

jPDF Viewer is indeed much more powerful than a regular viewer: it's a real editor! You can draw figures, alter colors, change styles, create and insert pages and images...etc.

WHY DID WE WRITE OUR OWN PDF VIEWER?

Building a PDF renderer such as jPDF Viewer is not easy. It requires expertise in some of the industry's most complex technological fields, including cryptography, font rendering, math, intricate algorithmic and graphic manipulations.

We developed our viewer for three basic reasons:

  1. Acrobat Reader is NOT free!

Despite common assumptions, Acrobat Reader is not a free product.
As a user, you can download it off the Acrobat Web site in order to display PDF contents. The download is free; however, whenever you, as a corporation, need to bundle Acrobat Reader in an application or a multimedia CD, you will need to pay steep royalties.

jPDF Viewer costs a fraction of what Adobe charges!

  2. Platform independence

Acrobat runs on most of the major operating systems - Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. But it is not platform independent. Have you ever wondered why you couldn't get Adobe products on AIX, Solaris or OS390?
Integrating with a native viewer from a Java application can be somewhat complicated. On some platforms you might have access to low level APIs - but only to those with limited features.
Application space is also an important factor. Acrobat ranges from 10-15mb and involves a complex installation procedure.

jPDF Viewer is 100% Java and will run on any platform supporting Java 1.3 or better. It is only 3mb and does not require any special installation procedures.

  3. Product scope and potential

As a technology leader, it is our goal to provide our customers with the most advanced PDF suite available on the Java market. We see our viewer as an excellent means of introducing our new customers to the high-quality and technological reliability of our product line.

COMPARISON MATRIX

jPDF is the best PDF viewer in its category - with only 3 mb and no third party libraries required - it offers the most advanced features available today in the Java market.
